I had lived in Brownsville, TX for awhile before have graduated in Dallas and attended school in Kingsville. I currently commute and travel from Kingsville to Brownsville where I have family that reside there and so I am still able to enjoy my time in the valley.

Moreover, the other day my family and I discussed how Elon Musk, the founder of Tesla and SpaceX, had apparently recently purchased a local shooting range for $3M near Boca Chica beach by the border near Brownsville, TX. This was not shocking news since it is no surprise how Elon Musk, founder of Tesla and SpaceX, has become a major hit and will continue to rapidly grow.

There is a SpaceX Launch Facility located on Boca Chica Blvd in Brownsville where there has been a couple attempted launches over the past few months. I was actually able to witness a launch on Dec. 9, 2021. Although it was a fail, but still fascinating to watch.

Furthermore, as my family and I had discussed the topic of Elon Musk and all the success and growth he has built and managed of SpaceX and Tesla. Musk apparently has further plans for many changes yet to occur in Brownsville, my cousin then mentioned what was the purpose of these electric cars that will be getting charged or the benefit of it if there are EV batteries being powered by child labor in Africa.

Now this news completely was new to me and of course shocked me because I was a fan of the electric car and SpaceX and although if SpaceX does not have anything to do with the child labor, it still ties back to Elon Musk because it stands by his name. Also, what my cousin mentioned did make sense. What really was the entire point or relevant purpose of supporting all of this?

So I had decided to research this and look more into it to find out this lawsuit had occurred back in 2019, and not only was Tesla being sued for these batteries powered by child labor in Africa, but so was Apple, Google, Microsoft and Dell being sued as well.

After hearing of this, I reacted very surprised because it is very unfortunate how it generally goes back to how that many things are out of our control and what really are some things we can do to help. Hearing this news put things into perspective for me and at this point I do not know what to think of it now or how I generally view Tesla, Elon Musk, Apple, etc. Are what they doing is okay? For example, us individuals owning an Apple device or using Google as a source are supporting them.

Are we a part of the problem?
