America's Hated Mother

If you are anything like me, you understand the level of insanity required to obsess over a crime. Never mind the feeling of range when the justice system fails us. Analyzing the details and fixating on a timeline is the adrenaline, us, crime junkies thrive on. However when there is no closure or crimes remained unsolved the gears of a crime junkie will continue turning until we can make sense of all details.

That’s exactly what my brain did when I heard about America’s most hated mother. The verdict of Casey Anthony had me baffled. On July 5, 2011 a jury in Florida announced that Casey Anthony, who was alleged of killing her 2 year-old daughter, Caylee Marie Anthony was not guilty.

Million of people were following the case and the media was quick to react to the verdict. The verdict was reached with only two days of deliberation. Frankly, I think more time should have been invested in discussing all the details. There was no explanation to why she didn’t report her daughter missing ‘till after 31 days. The faulty smell in her car, lying of her workplace, the duct tape her skull had when the body of Caylee was found. There was so many unanswered questions, yet the jury still reached a verdict.

But let’s backtrack to 2005, when Casey Anthony found out she was pregnant with Caylee, her pregnancy was kept a secret and caused problems among her family. In June 15, Casey alleges to have gotten into an argument with her father George and left her home. Casey left in a family vehicle and a month later the family found out the car had been impounded. Furious George retrieved the car and discovered a faulty smell in which him and his wife describe as “there smells like there’s been a dead body in the damn car.”

About a half of mile from the Anthony’s house the body of Casey Anthony was found six month after being reported missing. According to CBS report, the body was far too decayed to figure out her cause of death.

Anthony was charged with the first-degree murder but was convicted of only four accounts including lying to investigators. There was too many unanswered questions to form a verdict. I believe this case that broke the news should be re-analyzed and us crime junkies advocate for justice.
